Experimental Study of Quasi-static Mechanical Characteristic of Polyurethane Foam Material

Abstract:
Mechanical properties of compression, tensile and bending under quasi-static loading of polyurethane (PU) foam materials with different apparent densities were experimented systematically on a universal material test machine of INSTRON-1185. The variation of mechanical properties and energy absorption properties of PU foam material along with apparent density was analyzed based on test results. It shows that compression properties of PU foam materials are much better than tension properties; PU foam materials have good energy-absorption properties and its energy-absorption is increased with density.
