Experimental Study of Cold-Formed Lipped Channel Member with Web Perforation Subjected to Axial Compression
|
Abstract:
The web perforation is a new formation in the cold-formed thin-walled steel members. The existence of perforation affects buckling characteristic and load capacity of members and makes the design formula different with that of non-perforated members. The tests of middle long cold-formed lipped channel members with one perforation in web and non-perforated members subjected to axial compression were carried out.The two kinds of members have obvious different load-bearing characteristic and the load capacity of the perforated members is reduced. The reasons of difference in behavior of the two kinds of members are discussed through the comparison with test and ANSYS analysis. The experimental results indicate that the ultimate load decreases with increase of perforation size.
