Development of a Stability Test-Bed and Experimental Study

Abstract:
Ship body structure is consisted of plates and stiffened plates. Accurate prediction of the strength of plates and stiffened plates is a key technique for ship structure safety. A set of stability test-bed was designed, which may carry out the stability experiment for plate and stiffened plate, based on the theory of structure stability. The stability experiment was focused on plate; Critical loads for all tests were obtained. Critical buckling load of all plate specimens was derived based on elasto-plastic theory. Finally, it is verified that the measurement accuracy of this test-bed meets the engineering demand based on the comparison between experimental and theoretical values.
