Application of GRIN Media in Measuring In plane Displacement

In this paper, the connection between the gradient refractive index of GRIN media and its in plane displacement is established. So, by studying the variation in the refractive index of GRIN media, its in plane displacement which causes this variation can be deduced. An experiment for measuring the deflection of a cantilever beam based on this principle and by using double ray interferance method is reported.
