The article expounds the relationsh ip between the modernization of trad itional Chinese medicine and the r esearch and production of new drugs of it from the five aspects of largely incre asing i nputs in research and production,strengthening the study of the relatio nship between the quantity and the curative effects of traditional Chinese medic ine,reinforcing the research on compound preparations o f traditional Chinese a nd Western me dicines,emphasizing the study on"toxic"Chinese herbal drugs and the screeni ng of their effects,and paying great attention to the consultation of and the appli-cation for patents of new drugs.
