Development of a Lab Measurement Device for Hydrodynamic Force Acting on Piles
|
Abstract:
Great attention has been paid on the hydrodynamic forces acting on piles in engineering design. In order to accurately measure hydrodynamic force acting on a vertical pile, when water flow passes it with different incidence angles, a new device measuring the force in laboratory was developed based on the principle of force balance. Under the condition of different incidence angles, its measuring accuracy was tested by using standard weights to simulate hydrodynamic force. Results show that the new device has high accuracy and can meet the test requirements in those situations Therefore, this new developed device can be practically used to measure hydrodynamic force acting on a vertical pile in laboratory.
