Micromechanics of Single Fiber-Crack Interaction: Completely Bonded Fiber
|
Abstract:
Micromechanics behavior of completely bonded aramid fiber Kevlar49/crack beak interaction was investigated by micro-Raman spectroscopy. A linear relationship between the Raman frequency shift and axial deformation of single Kevlar 49 aramid fiber was established. Raman measurements show that a stress concentration occurs on the completely bonded fiber ahead a crack. The stress transfer model of the completely bonded fiber/crack interaction was established to explain the fiber stress concentration, which caused by the high stresses near the crack tip. Stress intensity factor KI affects the fiber stress concentration length.
