Ammonia uptake kinetics of a submerged macrophyte Vallisneria natans
|
Abstract:
In order to investigate the effect of light, pH and temperature on ammonia uptake ability of Vallisneria natans, this paper studied the effects of three levels, pH, temperature and light on the ammonia uptake kinetics of nitrogen. At low pH , the affinity and maximum ammonia uptake rate of Vallisneria natans is much higher than the other two groups. In the experiments on light, the affinity increased with increasing illumination, but the maximum ammonia uptake rate is higher only at medium illumination. In the experiments on temperature, the affinity and maximum ammonia uptake rate is increasing with the temperature at first, and then decreased when the temperature is higher. leaves had a majority of the NH4+ absorbed by the plant, and so the 3 environmental factors mentioned above exert more influence on leaf other than root on absorption of NH4 +.
