A STATISTICAL-MECHANICAL MODEL OF DNA FLEXIBILITY
|
Abstract:
A statistical-mechanical model taking account of non-neighboring interactions between base-pairs, sequence-dependent symmetric twisting, tilting, sliding fluctuations and asymmetric rolling fluctuations was proposed to predict DNA conformation. A new definition of DNA flexibility was also given. As an application, the flexibilities of 12 triplet repeat sequences were predicted. The predictions on DNA flexibility were compared with the corresponding data calculated with other methods. Agreement is obtained and good. The biological implications were discussed.
