COMPUTER-AIDED THREE DIMNSIONAL RECONSTRUCTION OF SERIAL SECTIONS FROM OSSEOUS LABYRINTH OF THE FINLESS BLACK PORPOISE(NEOPHOCAENA ASIAEORIENTALIS)
|
Abstract:
A microcomputer graphics system for three-dimensional reconstructon is escribed. By means of this system, the technique of three-dimensional reconstruction from serial secton data of biological structure has been developed. As an example of its application, anosseous labyrinth of the finless black porpoise (Neophocaena asiaeorientalis) was reconstructed from its sections. The resulting image is shaded for giving the display a true three-dimensional effect. It can be displayed and rotated on a color monitor to view all its surfaces. The shaded image can also be printed out by a printer on which we heve deueloped aso-ftwarefor printing image.
