Distribution, Sources and Ecological Risk Assessment of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Sediments from BaiYangDian Wetland
|
Abstract:
15 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were measured in surface sediments from BaiYangDian wetland. The total PAH concentrations varied from 324.6 to 1738.5ng·g-1. In general, it was appeared to be moderate to low level pollution by PAHs in BaiYangDian wetland. The spectrum of PAHs showed that 2~3-ring and 4 ring PAHs were predominant, which accounted for 47.8%, 28.6% of the total, respectively. Biomass and coal combustion were the main sources of PAHs, and in some sites, petroleum PAHs had a high contribution to PAHs pollution. The result of ecological risk assessment indicated that high potential ecological risk of PAHs was not found in sediments of BaiYangDian wetland, but some of PAHs exceeded ERL in some regions, and potential harmful effects on creatures might exist.
