Research Advances in Toxicity of Metal Pollutants to Nervous System and Its Mechanism
|
Abstract:
Nervous system is closely linked with other systems in organisms, coordinately maintaining the normal structure and function of organisms. Metal pollutants can enter the organisms by various routes and interfere with the development and function of nervous system in juveniles and adults. The mechanism of metal neurotoxicity is becoming a hot topic in this field. In this paper, the neurotoxicity of several common metal pollutants including mercury, lead and aluminum was systematically summarized, and the toxicity mechanisms were elaborated especially at the cellular, molecular and genetic levels. On these bases, the existing problems and further research directions were pointed out to provide a roadmap for future study in this field.
