CECROPINS AND SECONDARY STRUCTURE PREDICTION OF MEMBRANE PROTEINS

Cecropin is a very impotant kind of peptide isolated from immune system of insects. To determine the spatial structure of proteins by experiment is very difficult.Many methods were invectigated to predict the secondary structure from their amino acid sequences. Eight prediction methods were computeried and compared by the prediction results and the results from X-ray crystallographic studies of the photosynthetic reaction center. With the prediction results a reaction mechanismm of cecropins was proposed.
