APPLICATION OF RECURRENCE QUALIFICATION ANALYSIS TO EMG

Abstract:
The paper introduces the method of recurrence plot and the significance of percent recurrence and Shannnon information entropy of line distribution in recurrence quantification analysis. Applying RQA, we analyse the EMG of biceps brachii muscle and brachioradialis muscle under different loads, point out the percent recurrence of brachioradialis muscle is higher than that of biceps brachii muscle and more periodic. Comparing with FFT analysis for the same EMG, RQA is more sensitive to different EMG. RQA is a new tool for analysis of EMG, and also has wide application to the processing of other complicated biological signals.
