DISTRIBLTION OF GABA - EVLMUNOREACTIVE NEURONS IN THE VISUAL CENTRE OF THE HAMSTER
|
Abstract:
Distribution of GABA - immunoreactive neurons in the visual centre of the Hamster was studied by immunocytochemical technique and the quantitative analysis was made statistically. The results show that GABA-positive neurons are distributed ihrough all layers of the visual cortex and the superior colliculus. The density of the immunoreactive neurons in the lateral genicular body is tower. An average of 19.7% of the neuroas were immunoreactive for GABA in visual cortex and they are 52% in layer I of visual cortex. In superior colliculus 22.3% of its neurons were GABA-immunoreactive and they were 17.1% in deep layers of it. GABA-immunoreactive neurons include different type of cells. There are some immunopositive pyramidal neurons in the visual cortex.
