A NEW METHOD FOR ESTIMATING MEAN SCATTERER SPACING OF BIOLOGICAL TISSUES
|
Abstract:
Mean scatterer spacing(MSS) is an important parameter for describing the biological tissue microstructure and its ultrasonic scattering characteristics. A new MSS estimation method using transients points or characteristic points detection of backscattered ultrasonic signals is proposed based on the stochastic modeling of the tissues ultrasonic backscatterinng. The experimental results show that this new method can be used to estimate the MSS, and the spatial distribution as well as probability distribution of tissue scatterers. This method is an effective one for analysis of biological tissue ultrasonic scattering.
