INFLUENCE OF HYDROXYL FREE RADICAL ON THE PHASE BEHAVIOR OF HUMAN ERYTHROCYTE-PE LIPOSOMES
|
Abstract:
The influence of hydroxyl free radical generated from H2O2-Fe2+ system on the phase behavior of human erythrocyte - PE liposomes has been investigated. The results show that the treatment of H2O2-Fe2+ resulted in the decrease of unsaturated acyl chain compositions and the formation of malondiadehyde (MDA), meanwhile the membrane fluidity of the liposomes decreased markedly. Under room temperature, the appearence of lipidic particles on the freeze - fracture face of the liposomes was observed, indicating that hydroxyl free radical could promote the formation of non -bilayer structure in human erythrocyte - PE liposomes through lipid peroxidation.
