COMPLEXITY ANALYSIS ON SPIKE TRAINS OF THE SINGLE AUDITORY NERVE FIBER IN GUINEA PIG
|
Abstract:
Two algorithms were used as complexity measures to describe the complexity of nonlinear dynamic system. One was Lempel-Ziv complexity C(n), the other was approximate entropy (ApEn). It was shown that C(n) of the time intervals of spontaneous spikes was higher than that of triggering spikes and that ApEn of time series of the spike intervals was lower than that of surrogate data. It was indicated that the time series of spike trains of auditory nerve was not a stochastic process, but chaotic dynamical behavior. Moreover, there was stronger regularity in the time series of triggering spikes.
