THE EFFECT OF CALCIUM ION ON NICOTINICACETYLCHOLINE RECEPTOR DESENSITIZATION
|
Abstract:
This study examined the effect of calcium on the desensitization of Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor(nAChR) on cultured Xenopus Laevis muscle cells. In cell-attached clamp recording, we found that desensitization is all or none. When the concentration of calcium is 12.0mmol/L, the half time of nAChR opening probability declination-T50 is 11.5minutes. When the concentration of calcium is 0mmol/L, T50 is about 1.8 minutes. These results show that calcium has an effect on the restoration of nAChR from desensitized states. We also studied the mechanism of the effect of Ca2 on nAChR channel desensitization.
