COMPARATIVE STUDY OF IR SPECTROSCOPY ON HYDRATED NATIVE PURPLE MEMBRANE AND DELIPIDATED BACTERIORHODOPSIN
|
Abstract:
The interactions between water, phospholipids and protein arc discussed by comparing the IR spectra of delipidated bacteriorhodopsin at different water content with those of hydrated native purple membrane. Their adsorpsin isotherms are analysed by using BET equation. It has been found that water has greater influence on the configuration changes of native bacteriorhodopsin in comparison with delipidated bacteriorhodopsin; the electrostatic and hydrophobic effects of phospholipids are important to the structure of native purple membrane.
