THE EXISTENCE OF CHROMATIC CHANNELS FOR MOTION DETECTION IN THE OPTOKINETIC SYSTEM
|
Abstract:
Isoluminant chromatic moving gratings which contain only color difference but no luminance difference were designed as stimuli for Optokinetic nystagmus (OKN) experiments. The explicit OKN responses were elicited by the isolumin-ant chromaitc moving gratings. The gains and nystagmus frequencies of OKN responses induced hy the isoluminant chromatic red/green, red/blue, and blue /green moving gratings are very similar to those elicited by white/black, red/ black, green/black, and blue/black moving gratings. These results indicate the existence of chromatic channels for motion detection in OKN control system. Finally, a model with chromatic channels for motion detection was provided.
