INTERACTION OF (Na~+ + K~+) -ATPase WITH PHOSPHOLIPID LIPOSOMES
|
Abstract:
The effect of different kinds of phospholipid on the activity of the (Na+ + K+) - ATPase from rabbit Kidney outer medulla have been investigated. The highest activity was observed when the enzyme reconstituted with dioleoylphosphotidylcho-line (DOPC) and phosphotidylglycerol (PG), whereas enzyme reconstituted with di-myristoylphosphotidyl choline(DMPC) leads to complete inactivalion. The enzyme has been found to be activated optimally by acid phospholipids. DSC and spin label ESR experiments also demonstrated that the (Na+ + K+) - ATPase displays a selectivity for certain acid phospholipids.
