CARDIOLIPIN INDUCES OXIDATION OF FERROCYTOCHROME C

The absorption spectra of cardiolipin-cytochrome c-cytochrome c oxidase system has been studied. It was observed that a new absorption peak appeared at 230nm after adding cardiolipin to ferricytochrome c. The addition of cardi-olipin to ferrocytochrome c results in the decrease of 550nm peak and an increase of 230nm peak. This result implied that cardiolipin could make ferrocytochrome c oxidized.
