APOPTOSIS AND MORPHOLOGICAL CHANGES IN HIPPOCAMPUSOF RATS BRAIN AFTER IRRADIATION BY ELECTROMAGNETIC PULSE
|
Abstract:
The apoptosis and morphological changes in primary culture cells and Wistar rats brain irradiated by EMP(electromagnetic pulses, EMP) were studied to explore the possible injury mechanism. The death and apoptosis of rat hippocampal neuronal cells in primary culture under EMP irradiating were showed by MTT and flow cytometry respectively. The histological sections were examined with light and electron microscopy. Results show that not only happened the death of hippocampal neuron at early stage, but apoptosis also occurred after irradiating by EMP. At the same time, the morphological changes in blood vessels, neuroglia cells and neurons were observed in rats. The results indicated that EMP can promote necrosis and apoptosis of hippocampal neurons, induce morphological changes in blood vessels, neuroglia cells and neurons at early stage, which may be the possible injury mechanism in rat brain induced by EMP.
