STUDIES ON SPECTRAL PROPERTIES AND ENERGY TRANSFER OF PHYCOBILISOMES OF Spirulina platensis
|
Abstract:
Absorption spectra, fluorescence emission spectra and excitation spectra of phycobilisomes at room temperature and liquid nitrogen temperature were studied. The room temperature fluorescence emission maximum of intact phycobilisomes was located at 678 nm, that of non-intact phycobilisomes was at 672 nm. There was one peak in liquid nitrogen temperature fluorescence emission spectrum of intact phycobilisomes, and two peaks in that of non-intact phycobilisomes. Our research results indicate that the linkages between C-PC and APC, and APC and APC-B have different stabilities, probably the linkage between C-Pc and APC is easy to dissociate. The light energy transfer among phycobiliproteins in phycobilisomes has been discussed.
