EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH ON THE PLATELET AGGREGATION IN PLANE-POISSEUILLE FLOW
|
Abstract:
A parrallel-plate slit device permitting liquid in plane-poisseuille flow and capable of studying the influence of shear rate on the aggregation of platelets was designed. Using this device, the aggregation of healthy human donor's platelets induced by ADP was investigated. The results of experiment showed: during the first 10 seconds after ADP being infused, the influence of shear rate (r) on platelet aggregation rate (A) was not considerable, and after 10 seconds A increased with r. The size of the aggregates became larger and larger when they travelling down the slit. The longer the time passed the less the potential of platelets aggregates. The aggregation rate of sample from female was a little greater than that from male.
