BILATTICE STRUCTURE OF THE MYOFIBRIL OF SOUNDING MUSCLE AND ANALYSIS OF THE ORIGINAL PROCESS OF SOUND-PRODUCTION IN Mingming CICADA(Oncotympana maculaticollis Motsch)
|
Abstract:
The myofibril bilattice structure of sounding muscle in Mingming cicada is given in this paper, and there exist simultaneously two kinds of myofibril, the fast-speed and slow-speed myofibril (FSM and SSM), in sounding muscle fibels. Although the FSM and SSM have identical framerks consisting of thick filaments, the ratios of thin-to -thick filaments(RTTF) are different, i.e. 3.1 and 5.1, respectively. This kind of bilattice structure differs obviously from the myofibril monolattice structure with the RTTF at 3:1 of sounding muscle of cicadas singing in mono-toned song. So, such structure in Mingming cicada is adapted to the original mechanism of vari-toned song production.
