THE CORRELATIVE ANALYSIS BETWEEN VISUAL ACUITY AND VEPs
|
Abstract:
The transient pattern reversal visual evoked potentials (t-PRVEPs) and steady-state pattern reversal visual evoked potentials (s -PRVEPs) were recorded from 104 outpatients and 9 young normal or myopic students, respectively. The correlative analysis between the visual acuities and the parameters in waves of t-PRVEPs or the spectrum of s -PRVEPs was performed. The results indicated that the parameters such as N1P1 , P1N2 peak - to - trough and the latency of P100 showed a direct correlation between the wave of t -PRVEPs and visual acuity, when the spatial frequency of 13' checkboards were used. So it was suggested that when the visual acuity was analysed by the waves of t-PRVEPs , the parameters of average P100 amplitudes and the latency of P100 should be used. Also the results indicated that the visual acuity was related to the average relative spectrum or the spectrum of fundamental recorded in s -PRVEPs, however , the second harmonic had less correlation.
