DISTRIBUTION AND MORPHOLOGICAL FEATURE OF VIP-IMMUNOREACTIVE NEURONS IN OPTIC TECTUM AND NUCLEUS ISTHMI OF PIGEON
家鸽血管活性肠肽阳性神经元在顶盖和峡核中的分布及形态特征

The distribution and morphological feature of VIP -immunoreactive neurons in the optic tectum and nucleus isthmi of pigeon were studied by immunocytochemical technique. The results show that VIP - positive neurons are primarily distributed in layer II, and a few in layers n and III of the optic tectum. While in the Imc and Ipc. the percentage of the VIP-positive neurons is about 80% and 50% respectively. However, they are evenly distributed throughout the Imc and Ipc. Their morphologies are described.
