AN INVESTIGATION ON THE STRUCTRES OF HEPATIC LIQUID-CRYSTALLINE LIPOID DROPS OF CHICK EMBRYO BY FREEZE-ETCHING TECHNIQUE

We have reported in the previous works that at different temperatures and different rates of temperature changing, the hepatic liquid crystal lipoid drops of chick embryo were able to convert from liquid crystal state to crystal or isotropic drop state, and transition could take place between the two of these three states. In this paper, observations on the crystal and liquid crystal were made and that hepatic lipoid drop belongs to smectic liquid crystal state was showed by freeze - etching technique. Finally, the similarity betweenhepatic liquid crystal lipoid drops and low density lipoprotein(LDL) have been disscused.
