Abstract:
Residue levels of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and organochlorinated pesticides (OCPs) in eggs of seabirds (Brown Skua Catharacta lonnbergi, South Polar Skua Catharacta maccormicki, Giant Petrel Macronectes giganteus and Gentoo Penguin Pygoscelis papua) breeding on King George Island, Antarctica, were measured using a gas chromatography-electron capture detector (GC-ECD) to determine accumulated organochlorine levels in taxa at the top of the marine food chain, and to consider their environmental signif...
