THE FLEA COMMUNITIES ON THE SMALL MAMMALS IN THE SOUTHERN SLOPE OF THE XIMALAYA MOUNTAIN
喜马拉雅山南坡小型兽类体外寄生蚤类群落的研究

The investigation results of the flea indices and similarity indices of flea communities on 8 species of small mammals in the southern part of the Ximalaya Mountain, near the southern border of Qinghai Tibet Plateau, during the period from 1992 to 1994.Altogether 1805 specimens were collected from the small mammals, and they were identified as 45 species and subspecies of fleas, belonging to 4 families, and 22 genera. After calculation of flea indices and similarity indices, PCA was used to analyse flea communities on 8 species of the animal hosts. The result revealed that similarities of flea communties were mainly affected by types of the habitats selected by the host mammals, and by the positions of the hosts in taxonomy,too.
