Abstract:
The Bohai Sea is a marginal sea with an area of approximately 77 000 km 2. It has restricted water exchange, being enclosed by the Liaodong and Shandong peninsulas and connected to the Huanghai (Yellow Sea) by the Bohai Strait. In recent years the Bohai Sea has been subject to intensive offshore exploration for, and production of, natural gas and petroleum reserves.
