SOD activity of rare plant Davidia involucrata
|
Abstract:
To understand the eco-physiological adaptation of different age class Davidia involucrata, the superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity of D.involucrata leaves with different age and at different leaf position were analyzed by the method colorimetry. The results showed that the SOD activity of D.involucrata leaves with different age differed at the same growth phase, but that of the leaves with the same age and at the same layer increased first and decreased then with increasing leaf position. The SOD activity of the leaves at the same leaf position but different layer and at different leaf position but the same layer also varied.Growth phase had greater effects on the leaf SOD activity which decreased after an initial increase with the leaves changed from tender to senescent. The SOD activity of D.involucrata leaves was affected by both biological and non-biological factors, and varied with age class, leaf position, and leaf layer.
