Research progress on natural regeneration of plants

Natural regeneration of vegetation is a complicated ecological process,which plays important roles in the multiplication,spread and continuation of plant population and the stabilization and succession of plant community,being a hotspot in the research of vegetation dynamics.At present,many researches at home and abroad are starting with certain or several stages in the process of vegetation regeneration to approach the effects of ecological factors on the regeneration,or trying to reveal the mechanisms of the regeneration from the aspect of the disturbances caused by forest gap,fire,and animal activities.This paper summarized the researches on the modes of the natural regeneration of vegetation,effects of disturbances on the regeneration,and the regeneration of plant communities.Some suggestions for the further study in this field were put forward.
