Hydrological characteristics and fishery resources status of mid-lower Hanjiang River

Based on the investigation of hydrological characteristics and fishery resources status of mid-lower Hanjiang River,this paper studied the relationships among the hydrology,food organisms,and fishery resources in this region.The results showed that the hydrological status of the mid section of mid-lower Hanjiang River was suitable for the reproduction of floating eggs-laying fish.Because of the hydrological status,the spawning and growth seasons started later in mid-lower Hanjiang River than in the main stream of Yangtze River.From April to June,the hydrological status in the lower section of mid-lower Hanjiang River favored the growth of food organisms.The abundant food organisms provided a good condition for fish growth and reproduction.The age composition of the main economic fish species in the lower section of mid-lower Hanjiang River was quite simple,with small fish as dominant in the population.
