THE EFFECTS OF TRITON X-100 ON THE ELEOSTEARIC ACID-EGG LETHICIN LIPOSOMES

The effects of Triton X-100 on eleostearic acid (ESA) - egg yolk lecithin (EPC) liposomes were studied by electron microscopy and liposome size measurements. A critical concentration of Triton X-100 in the interaction between Triton X-100 and liposome was found. Below the critical concentration, Triton X-100 has only a little effect on the liposomes. Above the critical concentration, Triton X-100-induced liposome aggregation, but not fusion, was observed.
