RESPONSE CHARACTERISTICS OF AUDITORY INTERNEURON TN2 IN THE BUSHCRICKET GAMPSOCLEIS GRATIOSA AND THE EFFECTS OF GABA
|
Abstract:
Intracellular electrophysiologyical technique was used to detect the response charactertics of the auditory intemeuron TN2 in the bushcricket Gampsocleis gratiosa. showing that the discharge pattern of TN2 is "phasic", and TN2 is a high sensitive neuron with a broader band-pass, best frequency of 13 kHz and the lowest threshold of 31 dB SPL. The effects of GABA, an inhibitory transmitter, and its antagonist picrotoxin on impulse discharges of TN2 were also studied Results show that GABA can inhibit impulse discharge of TN2. while picrotoxin increases spike discharges of the TN2. and even changes its discharge pattern from "phasic" to "tonic".
