"Wo der Standort trompetet, geht die Freiheit fl ten": Bilder interurbanen Wettbewerbs am Beispiel der Bewerbung Leipzigs zur "Candidate City" für die Olympischen Spiele 2012DOI: 10.5194/sg-1-37-2005 Abstract: Even though the so-called cultural turn in geography coincided with the elaboration and "mainstreaming" of feminist geographies, these two intellectual trajectories are not easily aligned, and the relationships between them have at times been characterized by tension, particularly within the context of American geography. In this paper, I outline the history of these various tensions and uneasy alliances, suggest possible causes for these tensions, and discuss in what ways (or not) this uneasy alliance might matter in terms of the intellectual trajectories of both subfields.
