Delayed BCG Granulomatous Reaction in An Immunocompetent Adult: A Case ReportKeywords: BacillusCalmette-Guerin, Acid fast bacilli, Tuberculosis, Vaccination, Granuloma Abstract: BacillusCalmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccine, a live attenuated strain of Mycobacterium bovis was developed in 1908 and it was first used in 1921. Its safety profile is widely accepted globally, with just a few side effects including cutaneous inflammatory papules and granulomas which are common within the first few weeks after vaccination. A few reports of delayed BCG granulomas many years following vaccination exist. A case of delayed BCG granulomatous reaction in an immunocompetent 29 year old female patient is herein described.
