Ocena wydolno ci fizycznej i jako ci ycia oraz zale no ci wyst puj cych pomi dzy badanymi parametrami u pacjentów leczonych stymulacj resynchronizuj c (CRT)DOI: 10.2478/v10109-010-0040-9 Keywords: CRT, cardiac rehabilitation Abstract: Introduction: cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is widely used in treatment of patients with congestive heart failure (CHF). Aim: evaluation of exercise tolerance and quality of life and their correlation in patients treated with cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). Materials and methods: 23 patients (16 men, mean age 63.0 ± 9.0 years) with CHF were included in the study. Cardiopulmonary exercise test, 6-minute corridor test were performed before CRT and after 6 months. All patients were examined by means of NHP QoL questionnaire. Results: statistically significant correlations between peak oxygen uptake (VO2) and sleep disorders (r = 0.62, p < 0.01) and physical exercise limitations before CRT (r = -0.54, p < 0.05) were observed. After CRT peak VO2 correlated negatively with pain (r = -0.82, p < 0.02) and social alienation (r = -0.90, p < 0.005). 6-minute walking test distance correlated significantly with energy level (r = -0.50, p < 0.05) before CRT and with pain after CRT (r = -0.87, p < 0.05). Conclusions: 1. CRT in CHF patients improves effort tolerance and some QoL aspects. 2. Patients with better physical exercise tolerance assessed some aspects of their QoL as better before CRT (energy level, physical limitations), and better after CRT (pain, social alienation).
