Histología uretral y vaginal en algunas hembras de mamíferosKeywords: female rabbit, epithelium, smooth muscle, striated muscle, connective tissue. Abstract: the analysis of the histological characteristics of the urethra and the vagina in female mammals is useful in understanding the physiology and pathology of processes such as urinary continence, copulation and delivery. in this regard, the species most studied with respect to the histological organisation of the urethra and vagina, are the rat and the rabbit. for comparative purposes, it is necessary to study in greater detail the histological organisation of the urethra and vagina in different species. the information gathered could help understand the functional and behavioural diversity associated with these organs. this study gathers, compares and discusses the existing information on the histological characteristics of the urethra and vagina in some mammal females, with emphasis on those of the rabbit, a model used by our research group to study female reproductive and urinary physiology.
