away from the european centred analyses that place istanbul and mexico cities as "exotic peripheries" with no connections, this article explore new historiographical aproches from analyzing two relegated historical sources. the text presents the first version of an unfinished text (et là bas quelle heure est-il? l'islam et l'amérique à la fin de la renaissance) that will discuss the economical, social and political frames in a global context.
