Turismo sustentável: utopia ou realidade?

many regions choose tourism as a developing input. nevertheless, the tourism complexity involving several industries, as the duality of its effects, increased the degree of conscience about the necessity of minimizing the negative effects and of maximizing the positive ones in order to guarantee its sustainability. this article/communication pretends to contribute to the international debate related to the tourism paper as engine for progress and for a sustainable tourism in the ？turismo da serra da estrela？ (tse). with many resources - cultural, landscape, and natural, and others, some of them unique - this territory is getting greater and greater importance either in national and international terms. the main objective of this paper is to evaluate the entrepreneurial perception of the tourism impacts on the region, as well as to understand which measures should be implemented in order to reach a sustainable tourism. to do this we asked the hotel managers to fill a written questionnaire that we treated later using the spss software. this research confirms the importance of tourism for sustainable development of this border region. we can also say that there are many things to do in politic and entrepreneurial terms in order to get a complete sustainable development.
