O púlpito em defesa do Antigo Regime: a oratória franciscana na Corte joanina (1808-1821)

the article deals with the oratorical productions of five franciscan friars in rio de janeiro: ant？nio de santa úrsula rodovalho, francisco do monte alverne, francisco de s？o carlos, francisco de santa teresa de jesus sampaio and joaquim de s？o josé. from the perspective of the religious language employed, the sermons of the royal preachers are analysed, taking into special account the allegories they resorted to and the techniques of typology they show with regard to power.
