this study has aimed at analysing the commutings in the metropolitan area of s？o paulo as an indication of inequalities and of social and spacial heteregoneity in the area. the theme has been approached in different spacial units to analyse the types of commutings established among the diversified subregional contexts. the main source of data used in this study was demographic census 2000.
