Abstract:

this article discusses the theoretical foundations that underpin the development of systems for monitoring and evaluating the quality of education and describes the most representative assessment models in education. the article pretends to answer the following questions: what does monitor and evaluate education systems imply? what role play assessment models, indicators and standards in these processes? what are the sources from which educational indicators are derived? how can the indicators that account for the quality of an educational system be selected?
