Un análisis crítico de las perspectivas de diálogo en la literatura sobre comunicación para el desarrollo y cambio social: abordajes y desafíosKeywords: dialogue, communication for development and social change, interpersonal communication, public deliberation, communication models, communication and development, social change, communication models. Abstract: the objective of the study was to explore the literature produced in the field of communication for development and social change (cdsc) in order to a) better comprehend how dialogue has been used to define, understand and support processes of communication for development and social change and b) to explore the theoretical and practical implications of using these approaches to dialogue. we analyzed more than 200 articles and concluded that the notion of dialogue has been approached primarily in three ways: dialogue as a model of communication; dialogue as an interpersonal communication event; and dialogue as a process of public deliberation. in other words, cdsc has approached dialogue in relation to three scenarios: media communication theories, interpersonal communication, and public deliberation processes. we discuss these scenarios and then analyze the risks, consequences and implications of each one of those scenarios. finally, we present some of the challenges that cdsc has in relation to the application of concrete dialogical perspectives. in addition to providing a systematic view on the use of dialogue in cdsc, our study also reveals important limitations to the use of dialogue.
