"fast sex" venues, namely sites for prostitution, are places where a masculine ethos is constructed. i studied emotions, especially those related to pleasure, among contumacious clients. this paper is based on qualitative analysis of narratives posted at a virtual community of fast sex consumers, where members score the service provided by girls at several male spas in rio de janeiro. by looking at those reports, called "test drives" by the group under observation, i seek to reflect on the context in which the emotion of pleasure is felt during a "programa" (sex service session), and those when it is described as absent. in both cases, i aim to understand how emotions shaped by prostitute-client interaction can interfere with the achievement of pleasure as the result of a programa.
