Características e impacto de la producción científica en colaboración entre Argentina y Espa？a

this paper focuses on the study of international scientific production in collaboration between argentina and spain in the period 2000-2007. the study was focused on three main issues: the importance of collaboration for each country, the main features of the collaboration, and the impact of this cooperation on the activity of each country. regarding the latter point, we try to determine if collaboration yields increased quality and visibility of publications. the results show that the cooperation with spain has a positive effect on argentina (representing 7% of total publications) and a more discreet one in spain. while the joint production improves visibility and impact for both countries, is in the area of mathematics where mutual benefits are outstanding. in this field there are referral institutions that act as drivers of a network of interaction which demonstrates the strength of cooperation in this area.
